Purchasing Exemptions

Certain commodities have been exempted from the requirements of the State Purchasing Act and therefore are not required to be bid out at any dollar value.  Even though an item is exempt, departments should use due diligence in selecting vendors and ensuring that they are getting a fair market value price for the goods or services.  The link below is to the State Purchasing web site where the most current NIGP (National Institute of Governmental Purchasing) Exempt Listing can be viewed.  The exempt list is organized by NIGP code which is simply a five digit code used to describe various goods or services.
