Short-term Automobile Rental
The State of Georgia has a mandatory statewide contract with specified car rental vendors. The current in-state vendors are Enterprise and Hertz; the out-of-state vendor is only Hertz. Information on these contracts can be obtained by contacting Procurement and Contract Services at 478-2897.
Employees traveling on state business in a rented motor vehicle are covered by the state’s liability policy. Therefore, liability coverage should be declined when renting a motor vehicle from an entity on the statewide contract. Loss Damage Waiver/Collision Damage Waiver (LDW/CDW) insurance is included in the statewide contract at no additional cost. However, if you are renting outside of the statewide contract or renting a 15 passenger van, it is very important that employees purchase the additional coverage that addresses loss or damage to the rental unit. Failure to do so may put you in jeopardy of having to file against your own insurance. All 15 passenger vans were removed from the statewide contract; therefore, you must also purchase the Personal Accident Insurance/Personal Effects Coverage offered to have complete passenger coverage. University employees traveling on official business are cautioned against using vendors other than those under the statewide contract.
To reserve a motor vehicle rental with Enterprise, departments should access the link provided on my.georgiasouthern.edu under “Faculty/Staff Services”.
Please note for rental of 15 passenger vans, you must contact the local Enterprise office in Statesboro at 489-4343 to secure your reservation. When renting a 15-passenger van, please review the following safety tips Passenger Van Safety.
To reserve a motor vehicle rental with Hertz, departments should call 1-800-654-3131 or visit www.hertz.com.
If you encounter any issues, please call Procurement at 478-2897.
