Purchasing Card Overview

The Georgia Southern University Purchasing Card, hereafter referred to as the P-Card, is a purchasing tool designed to allow university employees to obtain supplies and services for official business use that are generally valued at $4,999.99 or less.  The P-Card is a state-issued, corporate Visa credit card that is managed by Bank of America.

A card may be obtained by completing the P-Card Request Form and obtaining all signatures, including the applicable Vice President.   Upon receipt of the request and approval of the Assistant Director of Procurement and Logistical Services, the applicant must undergo a background/credit check. This process is handled by Human Resources. Upon approval, the card is ordered and the applicant is invited to training.

Training

New cardholders are required to attend face-to-face training prior to card issuance.  New approvers (supervisors/managers) are also required to receive training.  In addition, refresher training is required for existing cardholders and managers and is available on-line via Building a Better U. Cardholder and approvers (supervisors/managers) may elect to attend a face-to-face training session in lieu of completing the refresher on-line process.

Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the P-Card or for training opportunities, please contact Jessica Hersey in Procurement & Logistical Services via email jhersey@georgiasouthern.edu or telephone 912.478.5714.
